This patient, constructive approach helps to instill students with both the skills and the confidence to handle difficult assignments. I guide them and answer questions, but I also encourage students to make attempts at their work even if they are not sure, with the understanding that making mistakes is not just acceptable, it's good and necessary. I first take some time to get to know the student and their learning style so that I can tailor my teaching style to match. My approach focuses not just on the subject matter but also on helping the student become more confident in their own abilities, as that can often be a larger obstacle to success. I tutor K-12 and early college in a variety of subjects including math, physics, French, writing, and test prep, and I have experience working with students with behavioral issues and certain learning disabilities.
Hello! Helping students to achieve success on their own terms has become a passion of mine since I began tutoring 3 years ago. Mallory is much more than a tutor or nanny. Mallory is personable, reliable, proactive & an amazing communicator. Since they went back to school in-person, she has tutored them weekly (reading & writing for my 2nd grader math for my 6th grader). Mallory supported our kids' learning throughout the day of remote school during COVID, making sure they were on-line when they needed to be, helped with academics and kept them engaged in developmentally appropriate enrichment activities during downtime.
They routinely ask for Mallory's help with school work over getting help from me or my spouse because "she is much better at explaining things than you!" They also frequently ask when we are going on a date night, so they can see Mallory. Mallory has an uncanny ability to connect with both of them-something no other childcare provider has been able to do.
Mallory is THE BEST! They have provided tutoring and childcare for 2 yrs, starting when our kids were 6 & 10 (now 8 &12).
